A residence permit for the purpose of family reunification may be issued to an applicant who is;
- A family member of a person with a permanent or temporary residence permit in Slovakia, with the exception of a family member of a Blue Card holder who has been granted asylum or subsidiary protection in the territory of the Slovak Republic.
- A direct relative in the ascending line of a refugee under 18 years of age or a dependent person in accordance with an agreement with international law

- A spouse, if the spouse is at least 18 years old
- An unmarried child under 18 years of age

Who can apply for a residence permit for family reunification in Slovakia?

What documents are needed for the application?
Applicants typically need proof of family relationship (e.g., marriage or birth certificate), proof of the sponsor’s legal residence, accommodation, health insurance, and financial stability.
How long is the residence permit valid, and can it be renewed?
The permit is usually granted for up to five years, depending on the sponsor’s residence status, and can be extended if family ties remain valid.

- A valid residence permit card of the guarantor;
- Financial support from the bank from the guarantor's personal account;
- A receipt of financial security, signed and certified by a notary in Slovakia by the guarantor;
- A basis for a residence permit for reunification (signed by a notary in Slovakia by the guarantor);
- Registration in Slovakia;
- State fee of 200.00 euros per spouse
- State fee for a child 50% of the amount of the adult applicant;
